Super Mario RPG headed to Wii U

Square's Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars will see a re-release this week on Wii U in Europe, Nintendo has announced.

According to Eurogamer, the classic Super Nintendo role-playing game will be available for purchase on the Wii U Virtual Console this Thursday, December 4th, for for €7.99. UK pricing has yet to be revealed.

What has also yet to be revealed is if the beloved RPG will release on Wii U in North America, but we can assume a similar announcement from Nintendo of America is likely coming soon.

The original SNES version of Super Mario RPG released in North America and Japan all the way back in 1996, but didn't make its way to Europe until it was released for Wii Virtual Console in 2008. Super Mario RPG has been hailed as one of the best games released for SNES, combining story and gameplay based on the Super Mario Bros. series with mechanics from Final Fantasy.
