A few days ago, when Super Mario Run was out for a single day, GameZone reported it had hit 2.85 million downloads in one day, making it the biggest App Store launch in history.
Today, five days later, in fact, we're reporting 40 million downloads for Super Mario Run. A translated quote via NeoGaf from Shigeru Miyamoto says, "I am delighted that I was able to deliver a new Mario to many people in the whole world […] We hope that more people will feel the charm of Mario which can be played with one hand."
Super Mario Run is currently only available on iOS, so these record numbers don't even include Android users, who will be getting the game later in 2017. Speaking of records, Super Mario Run has also entered the top 10 games earnings in the App Store worldwide in just five days. It also ranks first in the App Store in 140 countries and regions.
