Super Meat Boy: The Game announced for iOS

Just this weekend, Super Meat Boy creators Edmund McMillen and Tommy Refenes announced a brand new Super Meat Boy game for the future.  This new SMB game will be for iOS and will NOT be a port of the very popular Super Meat Boy we all love and know.

The reason Team Meat is creating a brand new game is because the precise controls required to play SMB just wouldn’t work on a platform like an iPhone.  McMillen even says, “So as some of you know, we have been playing with the idea of porting SMB on the iPhone for some time. Sadly, there was no way of doing this without the game becoming a pile of garbage.  Super Meat Boy is a twitch platformer with precision controls, there was no way in hell this would work on a touch screen with buttons all over it, Super Meat Boy isn't a game we want to make a sub-par version of just to cash in… So, we decided to totally remake the whole game instead, from the ground up!”

So instead of making a really bad version of a fan loved game, to avoiding tarnishing its good meaty name, they have decided to just make a new game to spread the love to iOS users.  In this case, it was probably the right move.  In case you are still skeptical since this announcement came out the weekend of April 1st, McMillen Tweeted, “We have always said it is real!”  That’s good enough for me.

There is no release date or any of that jive, but know this is real and happening.  The only thing I can exspect at this point is something awesome.
