Super Mega Baseball Extra Innings landing on Xbox One in August

Super Mega Baseball is finally coming to Xbox One and Steam in August in the form of the rebooted version Super Mega Baseball Extra Innings. There will be more stadiums and gameplay modes this time around, but unfortunately there will be no licensed players as it is not an official MLB baseball game. We will be able to utilize 216 different players (yes, that's correct) and 24 obnoxious umpires according to Metalhead Studios.

Some of the features included are levelable characters where you can increase your team's stats in order to compete against the more difficult teams. There is also an adustable difficulty level as well as single player and local co-op with up to four players. No online multiplayer mode will be available. The game will be available on Xbox One beginning August 14th but you may pre-order the game starting August 7th in order to receive a 15% discount. PC users will need to wait an extra week until the 21st and both prices will set you back $19.99. Metalhead cited the need to optomize keyboard and mouse support as the reason for the extra week delay. All PS3 and PS4 users who already own the original game will not need to pay any additional cost as they will receive a free update with the features in September. No exact date yet is available for PlayStation users however.

“Right now there are few options for quality, accessible sports titles on the market, particularly when it comes to baseball games on the Xbox One and PC," Metalhead co-founder Scott Drader said in a statement back in May. "We're really looking to put this genre back on the map for more casual fans, especially the younger generation of gamers who haven't had access to the types of games that were common during their parents' generation," he added. "Games that could introduce a sport to the uninitiated and turn them into fans for life."
