Super Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS gets two stages from the N64 original

The Peach’s Castle and Hyrule Castle stages from the original Nintendo 64 Super Smash Bros. are now available in Super Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS, Nintendo of America today announced.

Hyrule Castle (above, left) was a bastion of competitive play during the golden days of N64 SSB, so it’s no surprise to see it among the retro selection. Peach’s Castle (right) is the real wild card, though its many environmental hazards make it a fun choice.

It’s unclear from Nintendo’s tweet alone what degree of remastering has been applied to these maps, though it is safe to assume they’ve been substantially prettied up. As long as Hyrule Castle still has its iconic twister, it’s okay by me.
