In just 21 hours, the Super Troopers 2 IndieGogo campaign has raised nearly the entire $2 million needed to begin production on a sequel to 2001's indie comedy which followed five Vermont state troopers attempt to solve a crime in order to save their jobs.
Officially unveiling the project yesterday, the comedy team of Broken Lizard has confirmed that the "script is written and the mustaches are thick, furry, and authoritive." Everything they need to make a sequel is ready to go, including 20th Century Fox's willingness to distribute the film if the IndieGoGo campaign is a success.
Broken Lizard isn't fully there yet, but after just a day, things are looking promising. As of the time of this writing, over 14,000 people have pledged $1.64 million. The film is already 82 percent funded and there's still 31 days left. Nothing is ever a guarantee, but this is about as sure as it comes.
