Supergirl renewed for second season, now heading to the CW

Hopefully, we get something a little better this time around

One of TV's biggest superheroes, Supergirl, has just got some new wind under its belt as it has been renewed for a second season and the announcement of the show moving from CBS to the CW.

Supergirl stars Melissa Benoist as she dawns the cape of the Girl of Steel to fight baddies all over town. The show was a wild success when it first debuted last year, but as the season chugged along, viewers starting to drop like flies. The season finale had around 6 million viewers compared to the season debut which had 13 million.

CBS Entertainment chairman– Nina Tassler defended the superhero pickup by telling EW:

“For our network right now, what we did respond to was the character’s humanity, the other characters in the show as well – the story trajectory and the character’s arc and growth. These are all things that made her just imminently relatable, and made the story exciting.”

Season one of Supergirl aired on CBS, a different network than the other superhero shows out there like The Flash, Arrow, and DC Legends of Tomorrow. However, with the recently announced switch over, this means there will be plenty of more crossovers with the other heroes like the Flash, which we had earlier this year.
