Surface with Windows 8 Pro pricing starts at $899

Microsoft has announced the pricing details for its Surface with Windows 8 Pro, its continuation of the Surface tablets. It's been a little over a month since the launch of Surface with Windows RT, but as we approach the new year it's time to gear up for Surface with Windows 8 Pro which is set to release in January 2013.

In preparation of its release Microsoft unveiled the pricing which begins at $800 for the 64GB standalone version, about $300 more than Surface with Windows RT. If you want the 128GB standalone version it will cost you $999 which falls in line with similar ultrabooks.

Like the previous Surface tablet, Surface with Windows 8 uses the same "elegant design principles" including the Dark Titanium VaporMG casing, dual 2×2 MIMO antennas, and the kickstand. So what's different?

Surface with Windows 8 Pro come with Intel’s next generation Core i5 processor, providing a nice graphics boost for its 10.6" 16:9 ClearType display that runs at 1920×1080 full HD resolution. It also includes a full-size USB 3.0 port and support for Pen input with Palm Block (included in both the 64- and 128- GB versions). Additionally, Surface with Windows 8 Pro will run your current Windows 7 desktop applications.

As expected, both versions also include the ability to use a Touch Cover or Type Cover which is sold separately, naturally.
