Surgeon Simulator ER Edition will literally put you in the operating room

You guessed it, with full VR support

Surgeon Simulator was easily one of the funniest games to both play, and watch someone play. It made us cringe, it made us laugh, and hell, it made us feel like surgeons dammit! Ok, maybe not. Bossa Studios is taking their Surgeon Simulator to the next level; The virtual level.

Surgeon Simulator ER (Experience Reality) Edition will be fully compatible with Oculus Rift, giving players an unprecedented experience by letting them actually "be" in the OR.

Assuming this game will work on the upcoming Oculus Touch controllers, it might seem that the game would be a little too easy that way. Don't fret. Bossa Studios stated that given the nature of the VR version of the game, it would have be slightly reworked:

Making players feel present and inhabiting the character of Nigel Burke has required a rethink of the original Surgeon Simulator concept. The tactile nature of accurately mapped VR controls has also meant that the game’s core physics based gameplay needs new game systems to preserve the difficult, comedy prone elements fans know and love.

As such ‘Surgeon Simulator – ER’ will offer the surgeries, humour and achievements of the original but with a focus on the unique qualities of VR.

No specific date was given, but given that the Oculus Rift and compatible games for it are launching in Q1 2016, it's safe to assume we'll be seeing Surgeon Simulator ER Edition around that time.
