Empire Magazine's October issue, which will go on sale this Thursday, promises tons of juicy behind-the-scenes information regarding the highly anticipated film Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and today we got our first morsel of it.
Following yesterday's exclusive photo of Kylo Ren, Empire Magazine continued to tease the October issue by providing more details on the film's "villain." Since he was first teased months ago, there's been plenty of questions surrounding the mysterious character, who has been shown wielding a ragged lightsaber broadsaber and donning a black mask reminiscent of Darth Vader. From his wardrobe to his weapon to his actual name, what's the deal with Kylo Ren?
As confirmed by director JJ Abrams in the new issue of the magazine, "Kylo Ren is not a Sith."
"He works under Supreme Leader Snoke, who is a powerful figure on the Dark Side of the Force," he teased.
Revealed back in May, Supreme Leader Snoke is actually a CGI character played by Andy Serkis. Though we've yet to see an official image of the character, details of his appearance have been leaked and you can actually hear him in the movie's first teaser.
It's important to remember that although Kylo Ren is not technically labeled a Sith, it's still possible for him to possess the Force or at least be trained in the art/skill of lightsaber dueling. This seems to be just the tip of the information iceberg coming with the October issue of Empire, which will go on sale this Thursday, August 27th.
