Survive post-apocalyptic Russia with Metro Exodus on Steam next week

No, you are not experiencing a Déjà Vu, neither did you unwillingly time-travel to the past. 4A Games’ newest Metro title is soon launching for a second time. This time, gamers on PC’s largest gaming client will finally be able to play Metro Exodus with the long-anticipated Steam release on February 15th.

Exactly one year ago to the day did 4A Games’ newest and most-ambitious Metro Exodus game came out for PS4, Xbox One and PC. Later was one of the biggest timed-exclusives of the then-new Epic Games Store. Unlike what exclusivity means for consoles, Epic did make little mystery about their goals. Win over Steam’s humongous user base. In that sense, the many game deals the company made were more excludives than exclusives, since Epic’s prime goal was to let publishers and developers not release games on Steam in favor of EGS.

The year is 2036.

A quarter-century after nuclear war devastated the earth, a few thousand survivors still cling to existence beneath the ruins of Moscow, in the tunnels of the Metro.

They have struggled against the poisoned elements, fought mutated beasts and paranormal horrors, and suffered the flames of civil war.

Since Metro Exodus was among the earliest high-profile exclusives, the developer 4A Games and publisher Deep Silver had the bear the brunt of the backlash. Especially the criticism towards the developers was a real shame as the business decision was made solely by the publisher.

Nonetheless, the fresh game design by featuring seasonal gameplay in large maps made Metro Exodus the best entry so far. You can read more about what we thought about the game in our original review here. And now, after one year, the timed exclusive period is soon ending. Next week, users who are adamant about not using the Epic Games Store will finally be able to play Metro Exodus on Steam.
