Take a look at the poster for Independence Day 2

We know that Jeff Goldbloom is coming back to save the day in Independence Day 2 (along with Liam Hemsworth), heck we have even seen him on set next to the film's producer, but now we finally know what the film is about (aliens, of course) and we have a poster!

The film's synopsis reveals something we could have guessed simply upon hearing the news of a sequel to Independence Day, the aliens are back and they are bigger (and badder) than ever:

"After Independence Day redefined the event movie genre the next epic chapter delivers global catastrophe on an unimaginable scale. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defence program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens’ advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction."

When the synopsis says, "the aliens’ advanced and unprecedented force" they are really saying the aliens rebuilt the alien spaceship to look exactly the same – except bigger. Much, much bigger… Huge in fact, with a giant laser beam (again much bigger than the original film's laser beam).

Liam Hemsworth and Jeff Goldbloom are going to have to create an even bigger virus (and Earth while they are at it) to take down the alien spaceship this time around (they could even upload a keylogger while they are at it and steal some sweet alien money), given the aliens haven't heard of virus protection by now.
