Publisher Slitherine has unveiled a brand-new RTS game with Starship Troopers – Terran Command. The bug-squashing strategy title is set to come out next year for PC. Watch the announcement trailer below!

Starship Troopers is most famously known as the 1997 Hollywood blockbuster adaption from the 1959 novel. Following the source material only loosely, the movie was a tour de force with its bombastic space battles and gruesome action where humanity finds itself in a battle for survival against an alien bug menace. Despite the setting fitting perfectly in the gaming medium, we sadly never really got an awesome video game adaptation. In the 2000s, an action-based strategy game and a first-person shooter came out but both were subpar in conveying the experience fans of the movie were longing for.

Starship Troopers – Terran Command is a thrilling real-time strategy game set in the Starship Troopers movies universe. Take command of the Mobile Infantry and do your part in the war against the Arachnid threat. Build, develop and control your armies to strike an effective balance between tactical superiority and strength in numbers. Ensure that human civilization, not insect, dominates the galaxy now and always!

After falling into obscurity in recent decades after awful movie sequels, now we are greeted once again with a game. Starship Troopers – Terran Command aims to bring the heart-pounding action from the movie into gaming form as yet again a real-time strategy title. While a third-person or first-person shooter would have been welcomed too, the decision to aim for strategy makes a lot of sense. Starship Troopers’ signature action consists of huge masses of vicious bugs after all, and how best to portray this than in a top-view strategy?

Developed by The Aristocrats, Terran Command is gunning for 2020 as a release window but it wasn’t disclosed when exactly to expect the title to hit. It is a PC exclusive and you can wishlist it now on Steam.
