Take-Two Interactive teases “huge new title” for FY 2019

But what is it?

Take-Two Interactive's head honcho has been talking quite a bit about the upcoming release of Red Dead Redemption 2, but now it seems as though there's a new game being teased. Details on this "huge new title" are light, but it appears as though Take-Two has plenty of faith in its money-making abilities.

“Obviously fiscal 2019 will look much better with the launch of Red Dead 2 and a huge new title from 2K, as well as the 2K Sports titles, catalogue, recurrent consumer spending, NBA2K Online in China, Social Point and the like. We've already said that fiscal 2019, which isn't that far away, is $2.5bn net sales minimum, £700m cash flow from our operations minimum… that's pretty consequential,” said Take-Two Interactive's CEO Strauss Zelnick to GamesIndustry during an interview.

Fiscal Year 2019 runs from October 1, 2018, through September 30th, 2019 and with Red Dead Redemption 2 coming in Spring of 2018 (which misses the FY 2019 mark), you have to wonder what that "huge new title" will be during FY 2019.

Looking at 2K's typical release windows for the 2K Sports games, you'll see that 2K tends to see a lot of releases any given year. The NBA 2K games tend to release in September, the MLB games from 2K release in March, NHL releases around September, WWE in November/October.

With Gearbox gearing up for a Borderlands movie and the Borderlands dev team showing off a tech demo for Borderlands 3 earlier this year, Zelnick could very well be teasing Borderlands 3. It should be noted that he does say "new" which could suggest a brand new IP as well.
