Target ad suggests price cut for PS Vita

Sony could be planning to announce a price cut for the PlayStation Vita, if an alleged advertisement for retailer Target is to be believed. Spotted by a member of Blu-ray.com, the ad suggests that all Vita models will be reduced to $199.99, a $50-$100 savings on the system's normal selling price.

Currently the Vita retails anywhere between $249.99 (Wi-Fi only) to $299.99 (3G/Wi-Fi) depending on the version you pickup. However, Target only carries the $249.99 Wi-Fi model online suggesting that may be the one on sale. That's really the only way this ad listing makes sense; otherwise why not just opt for the more expensive $299.99 version with 3G and Wi-Fi?

Then again, we don't even know if this is legit. Sony has yet to announce any price cuts and it doesn't seem like the company was planning on doing so. Back in February, Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida flat out rejected the notion of a price cut in the U.S. — even after it received one in Japan.

You know what would be great to go along with this drop in price? Some actual games, which Sony has promised will be unveiled at Gamescom this month.
