Team Bondi’s ‘Whore of the Orient’ targeting next-gen consoles, first details revealed

Team Bondi, the developer of L.A. Noire, has released the first details of upcoming game Whore of the Orient.

The biggest news is that the game is being developer for next generation consoles and PC. The Whore of the Orient website was updated to include a little background information about the game along with an image that sets the scene for the game.

The game's description reads:

"Shanghai, 1936. Whore of the Orient. Paris of the East. The most corrupt and decadent city on the planet, where anything can be had or done for the right price. Plaything of Western powers who greedily exploit the Chinese masses. Boiling pot of Chinese nationalism, with the Kuomintang ruthlessly trying to suppress Communism and the labour movement. Home to the International Police Force, a group of Western cops hopelessly trying to keep the lid on and keep the peace."

Team Bondi, who was recently bought by Australian-based company KMM (makers of the movie Happy Feet and its video game tie-ins) following its financial collapse, is now hiring for the new project. Despite their financial struggles in the past, Team Bondi has been on the forefront of exploring new ways to deliver an interactive experience.

Past titles include The Getaway which was "famous for its photo-realistic look, strong narrative, and uncompromising gameplay style." Team Bondi raised the bar, however, with L.A. Noire, their detective thriller released in 2011. Using all-new animation technology that captured every actor's facial expressions, L.A. Noire delivered a storytelling experience never-before-seen in video games.

In fact, L.A. Noire was so captivating with its story and delivery, that it became the first game ever to be invited to be shown at New York's Tribeca Film Festival. While L.A. Noire's gameplay was questionable, there's no doubt that Team Bondi set a new standard for interactive experiences. And now they are looking to kick those standards up a notch with next-generation consoles.

Who better to show off the next generation of gaming than the team who pushed this generation to the limits with L.A. Noire? With the technological limits of this generation now a thing of the past for Team Bondi, I can't wait to see what they have planned with Whore of the Orient.
