Teardown let’s you plan the perfect heist with detailed physical destruction

Indie developer Tuxedo Labs has unveiled their new game Teardown. With a mix of physical destruction and strategy, this impressive little game gives players a wide range of options to scheme outrageous heists. Watch the first gameplay trailer here and see the awesome voxel-based destruction in action!

Dennis Gustafsson is the talented indie developer who is behind Tuxedo Labs and his new project Teardown has all the hallmarks of inventive and unique indie games we have come to love over the past decade. Without a doubt, the highlight aspect of the game is the impressive destruction model which is offering far more than just visual appeal. It’s the major gameplay mechanic that also elevates Teardown above other action games.

Destroying fences, glass and the like has and still is a standard visual effect which can be found in most games. But only a few developers have managed to implement the destruction of the environment into the gameplay loop. The most prominent series are the Battlefield games where entire buildings can be leveled which makes the concept of cover a very dynamic one.

The moment you pick up your first target an alarm goes off and the heat is on. Run, jump, drive, slingshot, do whatever you need to collect all of the targets and escape before security arrives.

Teardown also allows a rich physical destruction model but instead going for bombastic spectacle, here it’s a deep strategic part of the game. The goal of the game is to accomplish the perfect heist. Destroying walls to create shortcuts or evade danger and stack objects to open up new routes.

Until the game launches, make sure to follow its progress via the developer’s Twitter where he regularly shares new footage. Teardown is set to come out next year for PC but you can wishlist it right now on Steam.
