Teleport your way through Aaru’s Awakening this summer, hitting PS3, PS4

Aaru’s Awakening, a 2D platform revolving around a teleporting mechanic, will release for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 this summer, developer Lumenox Games announced today.

Jóhann Ingi Guðjónsson, Lumenox’s marketing director, said that Aaru’s Awakening began as a school project inspired by the teleportation gun in Unreal Tournament. It only became an official project—and Lumenox only become a company—after winning the Icelandic Gaming Industry Game Creator competition.

The game features a "traditional approach to visuals based heavily around line work," resulting in a striking hand-drawn aesthetic bursting with color. And in addition to being able to teleport, the creature you play as can also dash mid-air in order to break walls, pause in the air and effectively double-jump.
