Telltale Games is not working on sequels to The Wolf Among Us or Tales from the Borderlands

Telltale Games has a lot of very valuable IP in their hands. They've worked on everything from The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones to Batman and Guardians of the Galaxy. Arguably one of their best stories lies within The Wolf Among Us which is based on the Fables graphic novel.

The game released a few years ago and ended on a pretty big cliffhanger, for the sake of spoilers we won't dive deep into it here but it has left many fans wondering when we'll get a sequel so that damn cliffhanger will be resolved. Turns out, you're never going to get a resolution. Telltale's Job Stauffer confirmed that they intentionally left the ending vague to keep fans wondering (even though they know the resolution to it internally). While there are no plans to do a follow-up yet, Stauffer also stated that they will not continue that story directly as to keep the mystery ongoing.

"We have been asked over and over again for some insight into the mystery at the end of the finale for TWAU. Something I've always wanted to admit is that while we do have a clear answer to who was who at the end of that story… we had also agreed to keep it a mystery for the fans to ponder on their own," Telltale's Job Stauffer wrote. "Definitely fun to see all of the theories pour out, and exciting to pay off our neon-noir story with a femme fatale twist.

"Should we ever continue in the world of Fables and The Wolf Among Us… it is generally agreed upon here that we wouldn't continue that storyline directly, and would leave things an open mystery that's better left unanswered…."

Stauffer stated on Twitter that they do love the world of The Wolf Among Us and would happily return to it if the opportunity arose.

One of their other beloved titles takes place in Gearbox's incredibly popular Borderlands series. It mixes the humor and action of your typical Borderlands title with the storytelling of a Telltale game and it results in a match made in heaven. Sadly, there are also no plans to continue the Tales from the Borderlands series as Gearbox is already hard at work on Borderlands 3. That doesn't mean that those characters can't pop up in the untitled Borderlands sequel or that a Tales sequel itself is permanently out of the question though.

"While there are currently no plans for us to continue the story on the Telltale side, we do know that our friends at Gearbox and 2K are hard at work on what's next for the Borderlands universe. We know that also means if anything happens Rhys, Fiona and the gang… the ball is in their court to see whether they will or will not be explored again in any possible future entry into that universe. We're big fans of Borderlands as well, obviously, so here's hoping Tales isn't the last we'll ever see of those characters!"

Rumors have been circulating about a brand new Batman game from the studio ever since a leak occurred earlier this week. Telltale is set to reveal a bunch of new details on upcoming projects at San Diego Comic-Con this week, we'll be sure to keep you posted on anything we learn.
