We've known for a while now that Terraria, 505 Games' PC exclusive action-adventure game set in a randomly generated 2D world, would be coming to consoles… eventually. Now, we finally know when.
Terraria will be available for Xbox 360 on Wednesday, March 27, via Xbox LIVE Arcade. PlayStation 3 users will get a one day head start when it releases on Tuesday, March 26, on PSN. It will be priced at 1200 Microsoft Points on Xbox, or $14.99 on PS3.
Terraria is another example of an indie PC game gaining enough popularity to warrant a console release. Despite a totally different style, the game often draws comparisons to Mojang's Minecraft, so for the sake of this my next point let's do it one more time. Minecraft, another former PC exclusive was brought over to Xbox 360 where it also experienced similar success as its PC version. 505 Games is clearly hoping Terraria can achieve the same success on consoles as well.
Released back in 2011, Terraria scored a 9/10 here on GameZone, with writer David Sanchez describing it as "a sandbox that you won't be able to get away from." Let's see how the gameplay translates on consoles.
