Following the events of Far Cry 5, Ubisoft has announced a post-apocalyptic Far Cry game known as Far Cry New Dawn at The Game Awards. The game had a surprise teaser the other day and sure enough, it’s coming in just two short months! Bet ya didn’t see that one coming, did you?
The co-op title (which can presumably be played solo as well) sets players in the fallout of Hope County’s wasteland as you attempt to take down a set of twins ruling the new world. The post-apocalyptic setting will see you building up a home base and scavenging for resources to help take down the enemy faction known as the Highwaymen.
Your quest will also take you outside of the boundaries of Montana’s fictional Hope County and into other parts of America such as canyons and coastal regions 17 years after the bombs dropped. We’ll also see the return of the terrifying Joseph Seed who seems to regret bringing the doomsday event on his people.
You’ll find animals evolved from the radiation and destruction, new and familiar faces to help you take on these threats, and multiple kinds of apocalyptic weapons. To keep things fresh, Ubisoft has also said that outposts and expedition missions are different each playthrough. We’re not quite sure if that means they’re randomly generated and placed in different locations or if the outposts themselves have new layouts and challenges but we’ll surely find out soon.
Far Cry New Dawn will release on February 15th, 2019 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC for $39.99.
