TGS 2016: Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age gets new trailer

Return to Ivalice in 2017

Final Fantasy XII represents something of a turning point in the series' run under Square Enix. While many (like myself) consider Final Fantasy X to be the last great Final Fantasy (at least in the traditional sense), Final Fantasy XII was widely considered to be very good (if not great) at least on its own terms. The Zodiac Age will bring the now-classic JRPG to modern consoles at some point next year, and Square Enix has revealed a brand new trailer for the game at Tokyo Game Show 2016.

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age was originally revealed just ahead of E3 2016, back in June 2016 after much fan speculation. Given the fact that both Final Fantasy X and that other one (Final Fantasy X-2) were Remastered previously, it stood to reason that XII was next in line.

The game will bring loads of enhancements as well as some new content including:

  • Updated graphics
  • A newly recorded soundtrack
  • Trophies
  • Share functions
  • Auto-save function
  • Shortened loading times
  • Overlaid location maps
  • The Zodiac Job System
  • Trial Mode

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age currently doesn't have a release date, but will be coming out sometime in 2017.
