Jack Black is not involved in Dead Island 2, despite how eerily similar one of the character's sounds in the trailer that debuted at E3 last week. During a Reddit AMA, Jack Black was asked about his possible involvement in the upcoming Dead Island 2. I guess I wasn't the only one who thought it sounded awfully similar to the actor. Turns out, Jack Black hadn't even heard of it, though he was impressed with the trailer when he finally looked it up.
Here's his response:
“I’m looking it up right now…Dead Island 2 trailer. I’m just going to watch this real quick. Is this a video game? Oh my god. It’s a video game. Very real looking! Yeah, it’s not me, but now I’m so into this. I can’t stop watching a trailer. This is not a trailer, this is a short film. Holy shit, is he a zombie? I want to see if they got a voice impersonator. Oh my god. This is like the best trailer ever. It’s almost over guys. That’s infuriating. Yeah, I can definitely guarantee that’s a Jack Black impersonator. It sounds like the dude that plays me in the Kung Fu Panda TV show.”
The line in question comes near the end of the trailer. Watch it below and listen for the lines, "Hold on… haha, sweet. Freaking awesome!"
Jack Black was actually correct in his assumption; the lines are spoken by voice actor Mick Wingert, who does do the voice of Po in the Kung Fu Panda TV show. Wingert confirmed it was his voice on Twitter.
@HalloweenBlues yep! That's me.

So now the question is does Wingert intentionally try to sound like Jack Black or is it just some creepy coincidence?
