It looks like the sequel to Suicide Squad will be moving forward, but not with David Ayer. Instead, it will be the director who recently worked with Batfleck on another film.
According to Deadline, Gavin O'Connor is in final negotiations for the role of director in the upcoming Suicide Squad sequel (it's also being said that O'Connor will also co-write Suicide Squad 2's screenplay). He is best known for The Accountant, which starred Ben Affleck and made $155 million at the worldwide box office.
David Ayer, the director behind the first Suicide Squad, was said to be working on a Suicide Squad spinoff titled Gotham City Sirens, however, The Tracking Board is reporting that Ayer is no longer involved with any projects at DC. It's worth noting that Gotham City Sirens never saw an official announcement.
