The amount of destruction in Star Wars: The Force Awakens makes it OK for Superman to level cities, says Dawn of Justice director

It's totally ok 'cause Star Wars did it.

There's no denying that Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice is a violent movie. Every trailer and teaser has given us a look at the superhero battle the film is centered around. Director, Zack Snyder, has been defending the recently released Batman v Superman an onslaught of poor reviews and in doing so, has opened up an old wound.

In the stand alone Superman filming starring Henry Cavill, Man of Steel, Snyder showcased all of Metropolis' destruction. The city was razed amidst the fight between Superman and Zod. Apparently, Batman v Superman features an equal amount of destruction, if not more.

The Wall Street Journal asked Snyder about how he felt when fans remarked about the destruction in Man of Steel and he was baffled over that critique.

I went, really? And I said, well, what about [Star Wars: Episode VII—The Force Awakens]? In Star Wars they destroy five planets with billions of people on them. That’s gotta be one of the highest death toll movies in history, the new Star Wars movie, if you just do the math.

There you have it, if a villain destroys planets… so can Superman. Our hero?
