The Binding of Isaac, the roguelike shooter from Super Meat Boy co-creator Edmund McMillen, has been met with plenty of success since its launch back in September. The game has managed to deliver impressive sales figures, and it's gone on to become a critically acclaimed indie game. The game received a great score of 8 / 10 here on GameZone, and it even secured the number 10 spot on our top 10 indie games of 2011 list.
Just like Super Meat Boy was eventually released at retailers, The Binding of Isaac is also getting a special physical release. Dubbed The Binding of Isaac: The Unholy Edition, the retail version of the game will come with some sweet extras. Included with the disc will be a neat poster, a soundtrack CD, and a 40-page "devzine."
Aside from all of these tangible goodies, gamers who pick up The Unholy Edition will also receive a Steam key. Oh, and did I mentioned that the game is DRM-free? Yeah, I thought you'd like to know that little detail.
No word on when The Unholy Edition will hit retailers yet. Edmund McMillen and Merge Games are sure to reveal that info in the coming months, though, and the game is expected to land on retailer shelves this year. If you have yet to play The Binding of Isaac, or if you're a big fan of the game and fancy yourself a collector, watch out for The Unholy Edition.
