Developer Edmund McMillen has announced that The Binding of Isaac is being developed for consoles. Dubbed The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, development is being headed by Nicalis, and while specific consoles haven't been mentioned, McMillen stated that there's interest from both Microsoft and Sony.
Rebirth won't be an identical port of the awesome game we got on PC, though. The new version of the pleasant roguelike shooter will sport 16-bit visuals, a style that McMillen hopes will entice Nintendo to give the game a shot on the Wii U or 3DS.
In addition to the new graphical look, Rebirth will also include the Wrath of the Lamb DLC that was released earlier this year on the PC version, as well as an unreleased expansion that didn't make the cut. That's great news, and it's exciting to think what this new content will offer.
That's not all, though. Rebirth will also include a local co-op mode, which is absolutely wonderful. I loved playing the game by myself on PC, and I can already imagine how much fun it'll be to team up with a buddy and take on the creepy enemies that await in Isaac's basement.
