The Binding of Issac and Super Meat Boy dev, Edmund McMillen has officially pulled back the curtains on his latest creation, a 2-D Platformer called The End Is Nigh with the same dark humor and the ever-present threat of death as his previous works. The game was revealed in a trailer on YouTube earlier today and will be coming to both PC and Nintendo Switch.
Here's the trailer:
In The End Is Nigh, you play as Ash, a sentient blob that has survived "the end of the world" according to the game's Steam page. Players will guide Ash along through a desolate world of pain, suffering, and spikes that result in instadeath. Ash's ultimate quest is to make a friend by building one out of the bits and pieces of people scattered around the game world while picking up game cartridges and tumors because why not.
The End Is Nigh comes with over 600 levels across over 12 chapters with collectibles galore. It's also worth noting that the game cartridges you pick up come packed with playable mini-games, which have their own achievements.
The End Is Nigh releases this summer on July 12th for PC and at a later date for Nintendo Switch "and possibly more consoles".
