Frank Marshall, producer of The Bourne Legacy, has hinted that the series will be following Jeremy Renner's character Aaron Cross. I only have trailers to go on so far, but from what I've seen, Renner as Cross would be the perfect man to carry the franchise into future installments. No offense to Matt Damon, but Renner definitely looks the part of a badass super-soldier.
At a press conference for The Bourne Legacy, Marshall said, "We're gonna follow Jeremy's character. Everything else is wide open. That's the great thing about this now. The table is set to go any direction we want to. But we will, I'm sure, follow Jeremy and see what happens. Jeremy and Rachel."
Barring the movie being a huge flop/disaster at the box office, I can't see this not being the case. The Bourne Legacy takes place at the same time of the events of the original trilogy, with Cross' journey making frequent references to Jason Bourne's.
The Bourne Legacy is set to open in theaters on August 10, 2012.
