The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan gameplay demo

Gamespot has uploaded close to ten minutes of gameplay footage of Supermassive Games’ newest horror-adventure game Man of Medan. The game is the first entry in The Dark Pictures Anthology of similar spooky adventure games. Watch the gameplay video below.

Supermassive Games struck the nerves of gamers in 2015 with their highly enjoyable horror-adventure game Until Dawn. As a PlayStation 4 exclusive, only a portion of gamers were able to experience the excellent thriller which perfected the task of bringing over the likes of Scream or I Know What You Did Last Summer into a gaming format.

After this success, the studio unveiled their new ambitious project last Summer with The Dark Pictures Anthology. A series of tense adventure games in the vein of Until Dawn. With Man of Medan, gamers will be getting the first installment of this anthology on August 30 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Once again, the adventure follows the story of a group of young friends. It’s a new cast and this time they find themselves on board of a ghost ship after an innocent diving trip.

Supermassive Games delivers a new, horrific narrative journey where you will have to confront your deepest fears. All playable characters can live and all can die. The choices you make will decide their fate. Death could be just around the corner… Each choice you make has a consequence which can mean life or death for your character. Will you keep your head whilst struggling to survive? What decisions will you make?

It’s up to the player and his decision which of the five friends will survive this night of horrors. Similarly to Until Dawn, Man of Medan will offer the well-known choose-your-own-adventure type of gameplay we usually know from books. It works surprisingly well in games as proven by Supermassive’s PS4 exclusive and has the added bonus of giving the game extended replayability while chasing to keep every character alive throughout the story.
