Game Director Ryan Barnard, previously in charge of Ubisoft’s The Division, recently joined Square Enix’s team as a gameplay director at Hitman developer IO Interactive.
Barnard will lead three teams at IO Interactive, MCV reports, and oversee a mix of gameplay, online and world development. According to Square Enix, Barnard’s newly created position was designed specifically for his talents and experience.
“Ryan’s contributions to game design over the years show he’s the ideal person to spearhead the coming efforts,” Square said in a statement. “We are very happy to add his talent to the pool of great people working at IO.”
Barnard cut his teeth on the games industry with a position at Sony before moving to now-defunct EA studio Mythic. He eventually found his way to Crytek, and in 2011 joined Ubisoft as an associate creative director.
