Ubisoft has announced that The Division will be getting a free weekend from September 14-17. This offer is for the PC version of the game only, and allows full access to the base game's content, which does not include any DLC.
The standard and Gold editions of The Division will also be discounted throughout the weekend, which seems to be the incentive for a free weekend. There's also a free Resistance update in the Fall, which the free weekend also seems to be promoting. The discount on the game has yet to be quantified as of yet, however.
Resistance will bring new game modes and an entirely new area to explore called West Side Pier, which includes two zones. The content is free, so it will be available to both season pass players and standard players alike. Along with the update is a new PvE mode of the same name.
The Division released on PS4, Xbox One and PC in March 2016. It still goes relatively strong with a number of updates and DLC to its name.
