The Division’s latest Easter egg is Shaun of the Dead

Open-world games are perfect playgrounds for nods to popular culture, both subtle and unabashedly bombastic, a rule to which The Division is no exception.

We already know Ubisoft slipped several Easter eggs into The Division, often through the silhouetted victims of the game’s wintry apocalypse. It worked well as a Breaking Bad reference, and as Redditor Lakupip discovered, is every bit as effective as a riff on Shaun of the Dead.

The silhouettes in question are based on the scene from the video above. Shaun of the Dead’s titular protagonist, Shaun, played by Simon Pegg, has been recast as Shaun Packham in The Division, but retains his sub-par fence-hopping skills. More obvious is the sound bite accompanying the snippet:

“What’s the matter, Debra? Never taken a shortcut before?”
