The Elder Scrolls Online will be free-to-play this weekend for Xbox Live Gold subscribers

Clear out your hard drives, this is a big one

The Elder Scrolls Online is still going strong, but like any MMO, it's always up for expanding its player base. So for all of you who are home from school for the holidays (or just home in general), Bethesda has something for you to escape the doldrums of small talk with your family. Starting this Wednesday, November 23rd, any Xbox Live Gold member will be able to try out the game for free until Sunday, November 27.

To download the game, just head over to The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited product page and download the game. It's a pretty hefty file, so you will need about 80 GBs of space before you can install it. After you create an account, Bethesda will give you 500 crowns to spend on whatever you want in the Crown Store, which will also be running a special discount promo during the free-to-play days for some added value.

Once the free-to-play weekend is over, any gamerscore points you earn will remain on your profile and your save data will carry over to the full version of the game, should you decide to take the plunge. The full game will also be discounted during the free-to-play weekend, but if you don't buy the game now, you can still grab the game in the future and maintain your save data.
