Seasoned Polish video game developer The Farm 51, responsible most recently for the mystery-FPS Get Even, has revealed their new game World War 3. A multiplayer-centric military first-person-shooter slated for release on PC later this year. The developer has decided to release World War 3 on Steam as an Early Access title to include the game’s community into the development process.
Set in a modern global conflict, World War 3 will offer players two game modes to choose from, Warzone and Recon. Warzone’s focus on combined arm battles including infantry, air and land vehicles coupled with a focus on teamwork, usage of realistic combat tactics and weaponry will sound familiar to players of the Battlefield and ArmA games. The Farm 51 prides itself by collaborating with professional military experts, in pursuit of bringing a more authentic experience to aficionados of modern military shooters. This is also evident by implementing realistic weaponry, accessories, uniforms and even nationalities. In fact, The Farm 51 boasts featuring National Pride in terms of choosable countries, their forces and locations which will surely grab the attention of modern military FPS fans.
Since last year, with their primary focus on the battle royale genre, the surprise big hit Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds managed to grab not only the attention of million players all over the world but also turn heads of various game studios. As such we steadily saw an influx of battle royale games or at least game modes in newer titles. From the wildly popular Fortnite to the recently announced Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, it certainly looks battle royale is here o stay. This is where World War 3′s second pillar of gameplay comes into play, Recon. In this take of the battle royale genre, players will have to survive in small squads and capture targets. It has become a well-known gamemode by now and it will be interesting to see how The Farm 51 manages to implement the mode into a modern military FPS.
