Dragonzord! Eh..Regalia! Yeah, everyone seems to have thought the same thing when Square Enix unveiled the Magitek Exosuits during their Final Fantasy anniversary event. The suits appear to look an awful lot like these guys. As it turns out, the Power Rangers publisher thought the same thing and have apparently reached out to Square Enix about the issue.
During the last Active Time Report, Square Enix addressed the issue and noted that the Magitek Suits' addition to the game would be delayed as the developers undergo a redesign for them. Final Fantasy XV Director Hajime Tabata said:
"They don’t look exactly the same, and as for the copyright, even if these are our original designs, it seems like they will cause problems for others. Thus, the team decided to redo the suits and will release them at a later date."
I don't think there's any ill will on the part of Tabata and the developers at Square Enix. Sometimes (a lot of times), these guys go under for months at a time just to make the games we want to play, so things like this can pop up inadvertently.
Besides, it's way more rational to treat things with a sense of humor.
