The first Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 gameplay trailer is here

As promised, Activision and Treyarch released a new trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 today, giving us our first look at gameplay and revealing the release date for the highly anticipated first-person shooter.

The trailer takes us to a dark, gritty future "where a new breed of Black Ops soldier emerges and the lines are blurred between our own humanity and the cutting-edge military robotics that define the future of combat."

In multiplayer, you no longer play as soldiers, but instead as a specialist with a unique weapon and power. Some of those powers are shown off in trailer, like the death robot with the arm that turns into a minigun. Yup, welcome to the new Call of Duty.

You can also see how the campaign is designed for four-player co-op gameplay, something we haven't seen in a Call of Duty title for several years. In the campaign, you play as part of a prototype cybernetically enhanced Black Ops unit.

"While investigating a CIA black site in Singapore, half of your team goes off the grid. This is followed by a massive military leak that leads to the worldwide collapse of covert operations. Your job is to find your team and uncover the truth," Treyarch teased.

And, of course, at the end, we do get a glimpse of Zombies mode which is said to be "the most "immersive and ambitious" Call of Duty Zombies to date."

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will release on November 6, 2015. An open beta will be made available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC for anyone who pre-orders the game. There was no mention of Xbox 360, PS3, or Wii U, though Activision maintains "actual platform availability and launch(s)" are still "to be determined."
