Consumer version Oculus Rift headsets are officially rolling out.
Oculus CEO Brendan Iribe announced the headset’s shift from production to processing via Twitter, affirming the virtual reality headset’s impending release on Monday, March 28.
The Rift will retail for $600, which gets you the headset itself, copies of VR-built games EVE: Valkyrie and Lucky’s Tale, an Xbox One controller and streaming tools for Windows 10. Oculus recently unveiled the 30 games which be available on the Rift at launch, including CCG Dragon Front and rail shooter Gunjack.
Oculus Touch controllers, meanwhile won’t release until the second half of 2016, with more concrete information to come in September. As with the Rift, pre-orders will open ahead of launch.
Oculus has been shipping prototypes for years now. The company re-upped its supply of development kits, which regularly sold like hotcakes, throughout 2014. Additionally, in January 2016 Oculus announced that all Rift Kickstarter backers would receive free headsets come March 28.
