The first official trailer for Netflix’s Voltron: Legendary Defender has epic written all over it

Netflix and Dreamworks Animation has just dropped the first official trailer for the upcoming series, Voltron: Legendary Defender. Check it out above!

The original 1984 animated series was a big part of the major cartoon culture from the decade, holding high esteem amongst the ranks of such other classics as He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, Thundercats, and Transformers. Ever since the show ended, Voltron has been one of the many franchises begging for a truly great reboot; something that can bridge the generational gap and find a new audience, while acknowledging the classic series and its original loyal fans the world over.

Finally, Dreamworks Animation and Netflix have partnered up to give us the reboot of the revered series, slated for release this summer. The series follows the same rag-tag team of robot pilots, known as the Voltron Force, who combine their massive Lion modeled robots into the legendary defender of the universe, Voltron. The series features the talents of Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead), Tyler Labine (Reaper, Deadbeat), Jeremy Shada (Adventure Time), Bex Taylor-Klaus (Arrow, iZombie), and veteran video game and anime voice actor, Neil Kaplan.
