Last week we got our first look at the official teaser trailer for The Mummy. We first heard that the film franchise would be getting a reboot with Tom Cruise and a female villain last year and now we finally have a look at it.
The trailer, starring Tom Cruise as the action guy that can't die, even if a bus hits him or he's inside an airplane that crashes, and Sofia Boutella as the awakened evil mummy princess.
The official synopsis:
Thought safely entombed in a crypt deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient queen (Sofia Boutella of Kingsman: The Secret Service and Star Trek Beyond) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her, is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.
From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.
The Mummy is set to hit theaters on June 9, 2017 and will effectively reboot the film franchise that began in the 1930's and mix it in with an entirely new monster universe. It's not a remake of any of its predecessors, but a brand new take on the series.
The question is, is it more Mummy or Mission Impossible? Mummy Impossible? Mission Mummy?
