The Flash, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl all renewed by The CW

The CW announced yesterday in a press release that it has renewed its superhero lineup of network shows for more seasons.

Supergirl, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and Arrow air on the CW in that order and have all been renewed. Supergirl will see season three along with Legends of Tomorrow while Barry Allen returns for season four of The Flash. Arrow is the longest running show of them all and has been granted a sixth season. All four of the shows saw dramatic ratings increases during the Invasion! crossover at the end of last season, including ratings that haven't been seen on the network since Smallville eight years ago.

“Over the past several seasons, The CW has built a schedule of proven performers, from our lineup of DC superheroes, to critically acclaimed comedies, to sci-fi dramas,” said CW president Mark Pedowitz. “Early pickups of these seven series now allow our producers to plan ahead for next season, and gives us a solid base to build on for next season, with original scripted series to roll out all year long”.

When the shows return at the end of this month from their mid-season break they will do so with a slight schedule change. Supergirl, The Flash, and Arrow will still all air at their same times on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday respectively. Legends of Tomorrow has been moved from its Thursday slot and will now air after The Flash on Tuesdays at 9PM. The move was done in order to make room for the networks' upcoming Archie series.

At the conclusion of the season this year, all CW shows will also appear on Netflix only eight days after the last episode airs. The deal was announced last Summer, and lets viewers catch up on any missed episodes a lot quicker. If you remember, The Flash season 2 debuted on Netflix the very same day season 3 began airing on the CW. This new deal will save you about six months of wait time, so it's a pretty big deal.
