It's getting to be that time again as the end of what has been an incredible calendar year of game releases is fast approaching. That means that The Game Awards are almost here, and it has been announced that they will air on Thursday, December 7th live from Los Angeles. Much like last year, we will see new game announcements, trailers, and musical performances that will consist of "orchestral and rock" musicians doing renditions of video game music.
The nominees for all categories will be announced next week on November 14th and also like last year; there will be a "Game Awards Sale" that will take place on Xbox Live, PSN, and Steam during the early portion of December that will discount games that receive nominations. So if there were ever an opportune moment to grab a great game at a reasonable price, that would be it.
Last year, Blizzard's relentlessly popular hero shooter, Overwatch won Game of the Year, but 2017's field is shaping up to be absolutely stacked. With games like Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, Persona 5, Divinity: Original Sin 2, Horizon: Zero Dawn, NieR: Automata, and Nioh as well as many others earning massive critical praise, whittling the nominees down to only five games will be difficult, to say the least.
If you're interested in attending the show, tickets are on sale here.
