Geoff Keighley, video game personality and producer of The Game Awards recently held a Reddit AMA where he dropped some juicy teases for this year’s ceremony. Following the yearly event’s tradition, TGA 2019 will also feature never-before-seen game reveals. You can watch the event live on December 12th on pretty much every streaming service under the sun, including YouTube, Twitch and Mixer.
We have a bunch of brand new games being announced at the show — I think there are around 10 new games/projects being revealed if you want to count the things that no one has heard about yet. As always the Internet has a lot of really bad information out there about what you think is at the show…but it sure is fun to read 🙂 – Geoff Keighley
The Game Awards is only five years old by now but it immediately cemented itself as one of the yearly must-see events for gamers to follow. Apart from just presenting gaming industry awards, the venue is also home to live music shows and even comedy skits – even if unwillingly. But the most important aspect of the show has been to show off new footage for announced games or entirely new game unveilings. And it’s not just indies who show up but triple-A publishers who make good use of the occasion to promote their next big IPs.
Obviously, rumor mills are promising pretty much every game to make an appearance but with recent teases and leaks, we have some more believable guesses as to which games you can expect next week. First of all, Microsoft has already shown a short gameplay snippet of Age of Empires 4. The highly-anticipated sequel to the iconic building series could see a meatier showing at The Game Awards. One title which is almost a sure-fire bet is Dragon Age 4. We know it exists as it was first teased at last year’s TGA and with BioWare teasing it a few weeks ago, what better place to formally announce the game?
There are no plans (never were) to do anything with Resident Evil 3 at the show. A lot of these “leaks” are completely wrong. Nothing about our show has leaked as of this writing. – Geoff Keighley
Naturally, gamers are curious whether they will see the recently leaked Resident Evil 3 Remake at the stage. Keighley answered exactly this question on Reddit by completely slamming it down. Maybe he’s keeping his cards close to his chests, maybe it is true? There’s only one way to be sure. Watching The Game Awards next week. Public voting is still open, so make sure to vote for your games of the year on the official website.
