The HBO series Game of Thrones has officially surpassed the book series written by George R.R. Martin. It was widely believed that the HBO series would spoil the books, but it looks as though from here on out things will be very different between the two, regardless of being based on the same subject matter.
According to George R.R. Martin in an interview with IGN (via GamesRadar), Martin has decided to move forward with a twist in his up and coming Winds of Winter novel – the sixth book in the Game of Thrones series. The twist will make use of a character that has been killed in the HBO series.
When asked whether or not Martin's twist would be obvious in the book, this was his response:
"I have decided to do that, yes. Will you know it? I don’t know. It’s fairly obvious, because it’s something that involves a couple of characters, one of whom is dead on the show, but not dead in the books."
"So, the show can’t do this, unfortunately, because they’ve killed a character that I have not killed. But that doesn’t narrow it down much, because at this point, there are like, fifteen characters who are dead in the show who are still alive in the books."
So… Who was it? Who died? How will the show move forward incorporating some of book sixes plotlines with a dead character?
Unless, that person was never really dead.
