The Harrowing begins in League of Legends

It's that time of year again when League of Legends celebrates Halloween with its own in-game event known as The Harrowing.

The Black Mist rolls over land and sea, seeking the living—leaving them helpless to the half-glimpsed horrors it carries. The poor souls return with the mist to the Shadow Isles. In time, they’ll forget friends and lovers, even themselves, becoming part of the terrible force that grows stronger every year.

Riot Games has created an awesome video to go along with the event in which a "ghastly puppet show recounts a tale familiar in Bilgewater." Before we get into the details of this year's Harrowing, check it out below.

Ravenborn LeBlanc & Underworld Wukong

The Harrowing brings two new skins to League of Legends: Ravenborn LeBlanc for 975 RP and Underworld Wukong for 1350 RP (on sale for 975 RP through Oct. 28).

Haunted Hoard Harrowing sale

From October 24 through November 4, a host of deals and offers will be up for the reaping including flash deals in which skins will go on sale for six hours at a time and bundles of previously released skins dating back to 2010's Harrowing event.

There's also a Shadow Isles crest icon available for 1500 IP during the Harrowing, or 250 RP any time afterward.

Hexakill Twisted Treeline

Remember the Hexakill mode that was temporarily added to League of Legends? Well, it's back. And this time it'll be played on the Twisted Treeline. Doubling the number of champions that's normally allowed on the 3v3 map, Hexakill will bring a total of 12 champions to League of Legends's most close-quartered map.

Gold and experience rewards across the map have been bumped up, and controllering both altars now buffs you as well as your minions.

New Icons

Reap the reards of the Harrowing with new Icons. By winning three games of Hexakill: Twisted Treeline you can earna the "Mark of the Betrayer" icon. Simply give a gift of any kind to a friend before the Harrowing ends and you'll unlock the "Harrowed Puppet" icon.
