The Harrowing, League of Legends' Halloween-themed event, is finally upon us. It came a little late this year, but good things come to those who wait.
Good things, meaning tons of skins! Get ready to spend a lot of money because in addition to the new Haunted Zyra and Officer Vi skins, Riot has re-released previous Harrowing skins spanning all the way back to 2010. The 2010, 2011 and 2012 skins will be available from October 29 to November 12, before returning to the legacy vault. Haunted Zyra and Officer Vi, the 2013 Harrowing skins, are not legacy and will be available year round.
The Harrowing also brings "Mystery Gifting," the ability to surprise your friends with "tricks and treats." For 490 RP, you can send your friends a random skin worth at least 520 RP for a champion they own. "Most" skins for Champions that your friends own are eligible for Mystery Gifting, including Legendary and Ultimate skins. Even some Legacy skins not for sale in the store are included like Scuba Gragas and Annie in Wonderland. Lastly, you don't need to worry about duplicates as your friend can only receive a skin they don't already own.
Mystery Gifting is only available through the Harrowing 2013 event, though Riot acknowledged it may return in the future. There are some requirements for Mystery Gifting which you can read here.
In addition to Champion skins, the Harrowing brings free ward skins. Though free during the event, they can be purchased for 640RP (until November 19) so you can keep them on your account permanently.
Lastly, there are exclusive Harrowing summoner icons you can earn. Here's how:
As long as you've completed the achievements for each icon by November 12, you'll be eligible for the Harrowing summoner icons.
Happy Halloween Harrowing everyone!
