The House of the Dead 4’s boss names are in the cards

The House of the Dead 4 hits PSN tomorrow, and by now you might be wondering about the bosses you'll face in the game. An unidentified Sega team member shared a few details about development.

"All of the boss’ names are inspired by Tarot cards," the employee said. "For example, the name of the stage four boss, Temperance, literally means ‘restrict from something.’ We came to the idea that if you did not restrict food you would become overweight, which led to the design."

Temperance is one of the more nontraditional bosses in The House of the Dead 4, following players around the fourth chapter ("Despair") and threatening to steamroll them unless held at bay with machine gun fire.

"From this initial profile, we created a suitable attack method for this large body type — rolling. We also made full use of the game’s unique force feedback system with Temperance."

Other bosses include a tarantula that preys on unsuspecting elevator riders and a lunatic who chops up subway trains with a chainsaw. Have fun.
