The final version of 'Suicide Squad' may not have as much of The Joker featured as previously expected.
This weekend marks the release of the supervillain ensemble movie, 'Suicide Squad'. With hype building around all the upcoming DC Extended Universe material, attempting the film version of the exploits of Task Force X seemed only rational. So many trailers and clips have been released featuring the latest interpretation of The Joker from the mind of Jared Leto, but it seems that his character may not be in the film as much as advertised.
Fans could note that the focus of the modern versions of the story don't feature as much of the Joker as mainstream media may make it seem. As it turns out, the movie version appears to be following suit and focusing more on the actual team, which doesn't actually include the Clown Prince of Crime on its roster. There were a lot of apparent Joker scenes that were cut from the final draft. Director, David Ayer, had this to say:
“There are a lot of scenes that didn’t make it to the final film. Hopefully they will see the light of day. Who knows.”
Its possible that, similar to the "Ultimate Edition" of 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice', 'Suicide Squad' may release its own extended cut on DVD that will likely feature more Joker. Despite the "mixed" reviews from early screenings, the ticket pre-sales are already breaking records and fans of the series seem to be optimistic about the finished product.
The movie stars Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Will Smith, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Common, and Cara Delevigne.
