The Killing Floor 2 heading to Xbox One with exclusive content; Will be Xbox One X enhanced

Tripwire Interactive in collaboration with Deep Silver and Iceberg Interactive, announced today that their popular survival shooter, KILLING FLOOR 2 (KF2), will be coming to the Xbox One (after it was stealth announced during E3 2017). Killing Floor 2 has been available for PS4 and Windows PC (on Steam) for a while now and has favorable reviews on both platforms, with a 4.5/5 and a 9/10, respectively.

The Killing Floor 2 is a first-person shooter, zombie-like survival game that can be played single player or multiplayer, with up to six people. The Killing Floor 2 takes place a month after the first game, in which a deadly outbreak from a biotech company, Horzine, creates zombie like creatures called Zeds. The "disease" quickly spreads across all of Europe and with the European Union unable to act in time, causes government shutdowns and mass chaos all over the continent. In the sequel, the outbreak has spread beyond just Europe and has caused massive communication systems to fail and further governmental shutdowns worldwide.

Gameplay is pretty straightforward, players must fight through waves of Zombies Zeds (think horde mode), with each wave ending with a boss fight. The bosses will require players (or teams) to defeat it, using different strategies, as each boss encounter is completely different. This "boss" level concept is a unique take on a game that focuses on a horde mode, where typically the game gets harder, simply because the game throws more enemies at you at later stages.

With its release on the Xbox One (and Xbox One X at launch), the Killing Floor 2 will bring some exclusive content, like the Xbox One only weapon, the Freezethrower. The Freezethrower is a liquid-nitrogen filled gun that freezes enemies, allowing them to be shattered (i.e. T-1000 in Terminator 2). The new gun also comes with eight new skins. Another Xbox Exclusive is the new Wasteland armor, which comes in five different styles.

When released on the Xbox One, KF2 will come with all of the previously released content packs, including The Tropical Bush and The Descent, as well as other elements of the game already available on Steam and PS4.

As previously mentioned, the game will be ready for the Xbox One X this fall, with native 4K support, increased performance, higher resolution textures, shadow maps and fade out distance. There will also be support for Mixer, Microsoft's next-gen streaming service, that offers viewers real-time influence and participation in live game streams.

The Killing Floor 2 will be available August 29 for Xbox One (and immediately for the Xbox One X, upon its release) and will retail for $39.99 / ₤29.99 / €39.99, for both consoles.
