An updated product page and email from Best Buy has informed customers that Sony and Naughty Dog's upcoming apocalyptic adventure, The Last of Us, has been delayed until June 18, 2013. The highly anticipated game was previously set to release on May 7, 2013 for the PlayStation 3.
Speculation began after a Best Buy customer tweeted that he had received a notice that his pre-order has been delayed. The retail giant updated the official The Last of Us product page to reflect the new June 18th date. Walmart soon followed suit, all but confirming the game's new release date. Interestingly enough, GameStop still has The Last of Us listed as releasing on May 7th.
Last month, I attended a PlayStation Showcase where The Last of Us was on full display, but there was no mention of a delay. At this point, it remains unclear whether May 7 or June 18 is the official release date, but we're betting on the latter given the number of retailers that have switched over. We've contacted Naughty Dog for further clarification regarding the delay.
